Why CRI 90+ matters

CRI measures how true colours look. Under CRI 80, a colour job can look different once the client steps outside. Many MASCON spots and track lights are CRI 90+.

Good to know before you buy

Four things that save time on site.

  • Light the face from the front

Ceiling-only light leaves shadows under the eyes. Use lit mirrors or spots angled from the front for an even view of the face.

  • Keep every station the same

Match the fitting, beam and colour at every chair so the same hair colour looks consistent across the salon.

  • Mind the heat

Choose LED instead of halogen to reduce radiant heat over clients during long appointments.

  • Plan for the fit-out timeline

Share the layout early. Plan lights, drivers and mirror points before the false ceiling and tiling begin.

Common mistakes to avoid

And what to do instead.

  • Low-CRI lights at the stations

Colour can look different once a client steps outside. Use CRI 90+ wherever colour work happens.

  • Different lights at each station

Mixed fittings make the same hair colour look different at each chair. Match the fitting, beam and colour across every station.

  • Bright, cool light in spa rooms

Direct downlights over a treatment bed can make clients squint. Choose warm, dimmable, indirect light.
