LED strip lights are flexible tapes of LEDs that run on 12V or 24V through a driver. They light coves, shelves, kitchen counters and stairs. We stock MASCON strips from IP20 for indoors to IP65 for outdoors, plus COB, silicone and RGB strips, at our Periyamedu showroom.
12V or 24V: which strip do you need?
12V
Short runs, like a shelf or a cabinet.
24V
Longer runs, like a ceiling cove. Less drop in brightness at the far end.
Which IP rating do you need?
IP20
Dry indoor spots: coves, shelves, TV units
IP44
Kitchens, bathrooms, covered balconies
IP65
Outdoors and anywhere water can reach
SMD, COB or silicone?
SMD strip
Classic dots of light. Best inside a profile with a diffuser.
COB strip
A continuous line with no visible dots.
Silicone strip
A soft, solid glow with a tougher outer cover.
What driver does a strip need?
Match the voltage, then size it to the total watts plus some headroom. A 10W-per-metre strip over 5m needs at least 50W.
How much do LED strip lights cost?
From ₹[ ] per metre, plus the driver and profile.
Questions people ask
Yes. They run on 12V or 24V, so a driver converts the 220V supply.
Yes. Flora strips cut every 3 LEDs, at the marked points.
Yes, hidden in a cove. For a visible line, put the strip inside a profile.
Yes. Use an IP44 strip in a profile under the cabinets.
Longer with a good driver and an aluminium profile to carry heat away.
240 gives a smoother, brighter line. 120 is fine where the strip is fully hidden.
Yes, with an RGB strip like Flora 24V RGB and a strip controller or remote.
Flora strips use 10W to 20W per metre, so a 5m cove uses about 50W to 100W, less than one old halogen bulb per metre.
Yes, IP65 strips like Flora W/P IP65 handle rain. Keep the driver in a dry, covered spot.
Good to know before you buy
Always use a profile for visible lines
A bare strip shows dots and loses heat quickly. Inside an aluminium profile with a diffuser, it gives a clean line and lasts longer. Only skip the profile when the strip is completely hidden, like in a deep cove.
Plan for voltage drop
On long runs, the far end of a strip can look dimmer. Use 24V for runs over about 5m, or feed power from both ends. Tell us the total length and we'll suggest the right setup.
Choose the right waterproofing
IP20 is for dry indoor areas only. Use IP44 near the kitchen sink and in bathrooms, and IP65 outdoors or wherever water can splash directly.
Keep the driver accessible
Drivers can fail before the strip does. Place them where they can be reached, never sealed inside a wall.
Common mistakes to avoid
Without an aluminium profile, the strip runs hot and the adhesive gives up within months. A profile fixes both problems.
A driver running at its full rating runs hot and fails early. Size it about 20% above the total strip wattage.
Flora strips cut every 3 LEDs, at the printed marks. Cut anywhere else and that section goes dark.
Kitchen backsplashes and bathroom niches see splashes every day. Use IP44 or IP65 there.
